At the most basic level ‘giving voice’ is the unfettered expression of what we are experiencing in the moment.  In this context it is not intended as a communication, but an expression of the self.  “Having a voice” can sometimes mean the ability to be an effective communicator, to be able to convey the entirety of what we feel needs to be said or to denote whether a person, or group of people, is being listened to; whether their message is being given appropriate consideration.  But no matter what the meaning we know intuitively when someone ‘has a voice’ that arises from a deep truth about the self and that commands respect.
